Daichi Yoshioka, originally from Japan, is a student from the University of Warwick, currently studying ‘Global Sustainable Development’ as an exchange student from the University of Freiburg in Germany. He has a dream to ‘transform [the] Japanese energy system into 100% sustainable and 100% self-sufficient by the power of people’. In April 2019, he visited Scotland to ‘see what’s going on in the frontier of energy transformation, and learn about Scottish people’s vision for energy transformation’.
ACHS Director, Martin Semple, took Daichi on an extensive tour of the Arrochar Hydro Scheme and the local community which will benefit from it.
“It was [an} absolutely great opportunity to learn about community energy… What I learned from Scotland impressed me a lot.“ – Daichi Yoshioka
Daichi’s article has since been published on a student-run website at the University of Warwick:
Not to mention a leading environmental website in Japan!
We wish Daichi all the very best in his continued studies and ambitions!
